Lesson 11 – Anyone who knows my son knows he is an avid tennis player. He’s been playing since a very young age and it’s taken time for him to understand that losing is a part of every sport. We’ve had our share of tears and fits, but he’s getting there and it’s given my husband and me the opportunity to have the “you can’t win them all” conversation.
He recently began playing with another very talented kid and the two of them have an absolute blast each time they get on the court together. They have fun, they laugh, they compete and they challenge one another. They also learn how to play together in order to accomplish one simple goal. To win.

Lesson 3 – I recently had an eye-opening conversation with my son. Sometimes as parents we don’t realize that the simplest of concepts to us are often the most confusing to our kids.
Take the idea of borrowing money.
Lesson 4 – My son has made it very clear; he is never getting married. Why? Because it is “disgusting!” “What’s so disgusting about it?” I ask him. He says, “You have to kiss a girl, take her on a date, and pay the check.” read more…
Lesson 5 – One afternoon, I came home from work, and my son, who was five years old at the time, was in his room with coins all over his floor and dollar bills crunched up in little balls. He told me he decided to open up his piggy bank and take out all of his money. read more…
Lesson 6 – I was recently at the tennis center where my son plays and overheard the mother of another player talking to someone at the front desk. Her son was buying a new tennis racquet and she was explaining that he would be paying for it with the money he received from doing a few chores around the house! read more…
